How to Use Global Search

Find patients, appointments, invoices, services, packages, and settings pages from one search box without leaving the page you're working on.

Open Global Search

Select Search at the top of any page, or use the keyboard shortcut:

  • Windows: Ctrl + K

  • Mac: Command + K

The search window opens over your current page.

Search and open a result

  1. Type at least two characters. Results appear as you type.

  2. Check the label on the right of each result to see whether it is a patient, appointment, invoice, or another type of result.

  3. If there are too many matches, keep typing. For example, adding a patient's last name helps narrow the results.

  4. Select a result to open it. You can also use the up and down arrow keys to move through results and press Enter to open your selection.

Tip: Press Esc to close the search window.

Find a patient or appointment

Search by a patient's name or patient number. If your role allows you to view patient contact details, you can also search by email address, phone number, or date of birth.

A name search can return more than a patient profile. Look for the appointment or invoice label when you need a related record. In the video example, opening an appointment result takes you to the appointment on the patient's profile.

Find a service or package

Type a treatment name to find it in your catalog. Service results show information such as the price and deposit. You may also see packages that include that treatment.

Jump to a settings page

Search for the setting you need instead of navigating through menus. For example, searching permissions shows Custom Permissions and Team. Select a result to go directly to that page.

Searching permissions returns Custom Permissions and Team.

Return to a recent result

Open Global Search with an empty search box to see your recent selections. Prospyr shows your last eight picks in the current workspace, saved in the browser you're using. Select a recent result to open it again.
