Starting a photo markup
In a chart note, you can start a markup two ways:
Type / and select Insert Photo Markup, or
Select Insert, then Photo Markup
Choosing your starting image
Select one of the following as the base image:
A photo template
An existing patient photo
Patient Photos, to reuse a photo that already has a completed markup — useful if you're building on documentation from an earlier visit
You can scroll, zoom, and resize the image as you work, and use Change photo at any time to switch to a different image.
Marking up the photo
Use the tools along the side of the markup screen:
Injection Point — Place a numbered marker at each treatment location. The number represents the units used at that location. Use the up or down arrows on either side of the green number box to adjust the unit amount. You can also select the caret beside the arrows to open a list of common injection doses and choose one. Each marker can also be assigned a color, which many providers use to visually distinguish between products, such as one color for Botox and another for filler.
Draw — Add freehand lines or shapes. This is commonly used to circle treatment areas, such as when planning treatment from consultation photos.
Arrow — Point to a specific treatment area, spot, or feature.
Label — Add a text note directly to the photo.
Erase — Swipe over any markup you want to remove.
Select / Move — Navigate around the canvas or select an existing markup to move or edit it.
Saving your markup
Select Save markup when you’re finished. The marked-up version saves to the patient’s photo history without replacing or overwriting the original photo.
Note: Injection Point marker colors are for visual organization only. Adding or coloring a marker does not link it to a specific product or update inventory.
