Learn how to prescribe medication using ScriptSure. This guide walks through the three ways to start a prescription, explains each section of the Prescriber Panel, and shows you how to review, send, and confirm prescriptions for your patients.
Before you begin:
The provider must already be enrolled in ScriptSure. If not, first complete the enrollment process.
There are 3 ways to get to the prescribe window to create a prescription.
Start through the Note section
Start through the Patient profile
Start through the Prescription tab on the side panel
Entering through the Notes section:
Step 1: Go to Patient, select Patient Name, and Notes.
Step 2: Click Add Note.
Step 3: Select Create Blank Note.
Step 4: Click Insert.
Step 5: Select Click to Prescribe.
Step 6: This takes you to the prescriber window.
Entering through the Patient Profile:
Step 1: Go to Patients and select Patient Name.
Step 2: Click Action, then New Prescription and the prescriber window will open.
Entering through the Prescriptions tab:
Step 1: Select Prescriptions, then New Prescription, and the prescriber window will open.
Inside the prescriber panel, you’ll find several tools for efficient prescribing:
Step 1: You can easily view Messages to see any errors, Drug History, and Reports to check any audits.
Step 2: Next, select the medication or compound from Favorites, Single Medication, or Compound.
Step 3: Once you have selected the medication, enter the prescription instructions, quantity, unit type (tablet or syringe), and refills. You can also toggle on to prevent generic substitutions to prevent pharmacy renewal requests.
Step 4: You can also add optional ICD 10 codes. If one is already linked to the patient, it’ll auto-populate.
Step 5: Enter any notes for the pharmacy and click Next: Pharmacy.
Step 6: Next select the patient's pharmacy. You can search by entering the pharmacy name, state, and zip code.
Step 7: Review the summary and if everything is correct, click Create Prescription.
Step 8: On the confirmation page, verify all details. Edit as needed, and if everything is accurate, click Send to Pharmacy.
Step 9: A final double-check screen will open. Review all information. If all looks good, Approve and Send.
Step 10: After completing the prescription, you can verify by going back to the patient’s profile.
Step 11: Select Medical Info then Prescriptions.
Step 12: Look for the new prescription entry. It may take a few minutes to appear via web hook.
