How to Port Your Existing Phone Number

Learn what information and documentation we'll need to successfully port your existing business phone number to Prospyr.

If you'd like to keep your existing business phone number, we'll port it to Prospyr on your behalf. Before we can begin the porting process, we'll need a few pieces of information and documentation from you.

Important: Voice routing must be configured before we submit your port request. During the porting process, there is typically about 10 minutes of downtime while your number transfers between carriers. Since carriers don't provide an exact cutover date or time, configuring your voice routing in advance ensures incoming calls are routed correctly as soon as your number becomes active.

Information We'll Need

Please provide the following for each phone number you'd like to port:

☐ Phone number(s) to port:

☐ Wireless account number:

☐ PIN or last four digits of the SSN associated with the account:

Documents We'll Need

Please provide the following:

☐ Completed Letter of Authorization (LOA) signed by the account owner (download the LOA at the bottom of this article).

☐ Current phone bill or other proof of ownership showing the phone number(s) being ported.

Note: If your provider doesn't issue a monthly phone bill (such as Google Voice), you can provide another form of proof of ownership, such as a receipt showing purchase of the phone number or a screenshot of your account displaying the phone number(s).

Before You Submit Your Port Request

Be sure you have completed the call routing set up.

What to Expect

Once all required information and documentation has been received and your Voice Routing Setup has been completed, your port request can be submitted.

Most ports are completed within 5 to 15 business days, although some carriers may take longer. During the porting process, your phone number may experience approximately 10 minutes of downtime while it transfers between carriers.
