Understanding Merge Tags

  1. Introduction to Merge Tags

    • Merge tags pull information from the medical info tab on the patient's profile.

    • Information must be filled out in the patient's intake forms for merge tags to work effectively.

      • Note that custom intake form questions will not track back to the patient profile, and therefore cannot be called into a note with merge tags.

  2. Using Merge Tags

    • To bring a merge tag into a note, type {{{ brackets and select the desired information.

    • The selected information will replace the brackets in the note.

    • If the information is not filled out in the patient's medical info tab, the merge tag will show as "no value."

  3. Best Practices for Merge Tags

    • Merge tags are most effective when used in SmartNote templates.

    • Information to be brought in should be included in the SmartNote template.

  4. Application of Merge Tags

    • When the SmartNote template is used in a note, all information will be automatically pre-populated based on the merge tags used.
