How to create smart notes

1. You can access your smart notes templates by navigating to settings then choosing "Smart Notes" within settings

Click on Settings

2. Click on Create smart note to create a new note template

To edit an existing smart note, simply click on it's title

You can also duplicate or delete smart notes via the three dots next to its call phrase

4. Next, give your note a call phrase (what you will select to bring your smart note into a specific patient's appointment record)

Often, the call phrase and title are the same

Call phrase is what you will type to bring in your new smart note while you're charting/adding notes to a patient's profile.

5. Begin Creating Your Smart Notes

From here, you can populate the template that will be used on patient charts. There are two text commands to be aware of:

/ - Create a dynamic Dropdown or Insert a Table

6. Merge Tags: Typing three open curly brackets "{{{" will allow you to insert information that will auto populate within your patient note when you call it into a patient's chart. Select the tag you want to include from the list that pops up.

Available information includes:

Patient Data: First Name, Last Name, Height, Weight, BMI, Date of Birth, Age, Pregnancy Status, and Nursing Status

Provider Data: Name

Appointment Data: Services included and Appointment Date

Medical Info: Allergies, medications,

Flow sheet data: Initial or most recent values for any information you're tracking via a flowsheet

User Data: Note Author

Merge Tags: Typing three open curly brackets "{{{" will allow you to insert information that will auto populate within your smart note when you call it into a patient's chart. Select the tag you want to include from the list that pops up.

7. Typing a forward slash "/" will allow you to insert a dynamic dropdown or a table. Dynamic dropdowns are multiple choice selectors that can also be inserted into tables.

To change the options in your dynamic dropdown, click on the gear icon.

You can also give your dropdown a name if you'd like, change the options, and add more options.

Dropdown Name: What the Dropdown will be called

Options: What the possible selections for the dropdown will be. The first option will be the default response when a question loads.

Show Label: Should the dropdown name be shown in the note.

8. Tables: To add a table, type "/" and click insert table. The rows and columns can be adjusted with the buttons above the highlighted box.

You can also insert dynamic dropdowns within tables!

9. Click on Save, and you're done! Your smart note is now ready for use.
