Labs Home Screen
By clicking on the labs icon on the left toolbar (beaker icon highlighted blue in the example above) the labs home screen can be accessed. From here, all essential lab functions can be carried out.
To Place a New Order
A new order can be placed by using the patient selector tool in the upper right corner (outlined in red). Start to type the patient's name, and a drop down list will appear. Select the appropriate patient, then click 'Order lab'.
Labs can also be ordered directly from a patient's profile by clicking the action button, then 'order labs'.
Ensure that the correct patient appears on the right.
Select a lab from the left. If the desired lab does not appear, it can be searched for by name using the search bar above.
Once a lab is selected, it will appear in the gray box on the right.
Click continue.
From the lab order screen the user can select from most used, quick orders, or create a custom panel of available tests. Tests can be searched for by name by using the search bar. Add a test to the order by clicking on its name. Once added, it will appear in the gray box to the right.
Priority and test notes can be added to each individual test, or left blank. To tab between tests, click on the name of the test. If a note is required for the order, it can be added in the 'Order Notes' field under Order Options. Once all tests and details have been added, click the green continue button.
A patient diagnosis can be entered but is not required for lab submittal. Select the ordering physician.
If the default physician is not the correct one, the 'x' to the right of their name can be clicked to remove them, then a different physician can be selected from the drop down.
Check the checkbox if a specimen has been taken for this order.
Check the checkbox to schedule an order for a future date
Select from the drop down who the order should be billed to.
If this is a commonly ordered panel, it can be saved as a Quick Order by checking the checkbox then entering a name (outlined in red). This will allow the user to quickly select the panel from the 'Quick Order' section next time a lab is ordered.
If any attachments (documents, referrals, orders, or files) need to be added to the order, click the 'Add Attachments' button.
Click the green continue button.
The label will be printed. Verify all information is correct. To finish submitting, click the green submit button. A dialog will appear allowing you to download the PDF.
To view lab results, click on the 'Results' tab from the home screen (outlined in red).
Received lab results will display in list format. To view more details, click on the lab result. Filters can also be applied to the list to make searching easier.
