How to Use Parking Groups

Configure where calls go when staff press park, who can pick them up, and how long they stay parked.

Call parking lets you place a caller on hold in a shared group instead of keeping them on your own line. Team members with access to that group can then pick up the call. This is useful when a caller needs someone at another desk or in another department.

Step 1: Create a parking group

A parking group is a shared place where parked calls wait until someone picks them up.

  1. Go to Settings → VOIP & SMS → Parking groups.

  2. Click New parking group.

  3. Enter a name, such as “Front desk” or “Billing team.”

  4. Choose who can access the group:

    • Public: Anyone on your team can see and pick up calls in this group.

    • Restricted: Only the members you add can see and pick up calls in this group.

  5. If you selected Restricted, add at least one member.

  6. Set the Timeout. This is how long a call can stay parked before it returns to the person who parked it. For example, 300 seconds is 5 minutes.

  7. Click Create group.

You can create multiple groups to organize parked calls for different teams or departments.

Step 2: Enable call controls

Your phone number’s call flow must allow staff to hold, park and transfer calls.

  1. Go to Settings → VOIP & SMS → Voice routing.

  2. Select the phone number you want to update.

  3. Select the Ring group step in the call flow, then click Edit settings.

  4. Under Once someone answers, turn on Let staff hold, park and transfer the call.

  5. Click Done.

  6. If your changes are saved as a draft, click Publish to make them live.

Pick up a parked call from a Yealink desk phone

Dial *7 to pick up the call that has been waiting longest across the parking groups the phone can access.

  • Public groups: Any desk phone can pick up calls.

  • Restricted groups: Only desk phones added to the group can pick up calls.

Add a desk phone to a restricted group

  1. Go to Settings → VOIP & SMS → Parking groups.

  2. Open the restricted group.

  3. Scroll to Desk phones.

  4. Search for and select each handset that should have access.

Desk phone access saves automatically.

Note: Parking a call from the handset is not currently supported. Park the call from the Prospyr call window and anyone can pick up with *7.
